This post was going to be about the incompetence of people to do what they are paid to do. Like the waitresses that gladly tells my friend Dr Fungus: “We don’t have any mayo, but you can have aioli!”
But after some thinking I started to think it could be just pure laziness instead like yesterdays spinning instructor who came 5 minutes before we should start and after some fiddeling she said: “The batteries in the headset are out so you will have to be satisfied with me not using any.” If she’d been earlier she could have fixed the problem and everybody would have heard her screaming encouraging phrases. This actually happens often that the instructors are late.
However what I truly wanted to ramble about was that the problem is most likely that nobody cares about their jobs. Why not do that little extra to be nice to the people in your surrounding? Why only do exactly what you are paid to do? That is one of the downsides with the mix of capitalism and socialism.
I do not know how to interpret this picture of a colleague who brought his kid to work yesterday. Either science is not for kids or it’s really boring.
